GRP Septic Tank

GRP Septic tanks replaced brick-built septic tanks about 40 years ago. GRP stands for Glass Reinforced Plastic, also known as fibreglass. We use it in nearly all our products, including septic tanks and the Allerton ConSept. Here we discuss GRP, its applications, and how we use it to provide our 5-star septic tank services.

ConSept Installation in a Listed Building

The ConSept is a piece of equipment we designed to fit inside a septic tank (brick or GRP) so as to convert it to a functional Sewage Treatment Plant. After applying for a permit with the environmental agency, they’re generally accepted. The site in this case was a grade 2 listed building in Takeley, Essex.

Overflowing ConSept

The customer’s ConSept had overflowed in the distribution chamber; the distribution chamber (downstream of the ConSept, inside the Klargester Septic Tank) was overflowing onto the lawn. Come with us as our engineers provide their septic tank repair services.

Mr Hodgson’s Flooded Cellar

In the year 2010, Mr Hodgson approached Allerton with a problem: When it was raining, water entered the cellar from the floor and walls, causing a flood 6 inches deep. The cause was a high water table in the Sleaford area. Read on to find out Allerton’s genius solution!

A Dirty Job

A cesspool is an underground tank used to store raw sewage until it is emptied by a suction tanker. About 20 years ago, before Confined Spaces laws were brought in, Jon Allerton had the task of converting a large cesspool into a pump chamber. Follow along this sewage adventure in our blog post.

ConSept Pipe Overhanging Ditch

Our engineers hand-dug and reinstated the ground for an outlet pipe on a ConSept recently. The pipe is overhanging the ditch directly above water so that it does not corrode the bank around it. Follow along with our engineers in this blog post!

Control Panel Relocation

We had to relocate a DRS (Dual Raw Sewage) control panel in Ruskington. To do this we had to identify where it was discharging to! So we put bright green vegetable dye in the system to see the sewage discharging into a ditch. Here are the results!

How do you convert raw sewage into clean water?

Raw sewage, starting at around 300 BOD (estimated by British Water) can become as little as 20 BOD once treated by a Sewage Treatment Plant, which can be discharged into ground! Read on to learn all about the process.
